Personality Type

Defender (ISFJ)

Introvert- Reserved, attentive to cues, requires time alone

Sensing-Focus on the present, practical,  focus on tangible

Feeling-Caring, act with emotions, highly protective

Judging-Plans ahead of time, focus on a set plan

(NERIS Analytics, 2023)

After completing the Myer-Briggs personality test, I am not surprised by my results. I have found that I do enjoy time alone and need it to be more energized for time with others. I also am very practical and plan ahead for everything that I can. I am also very protective of the ones that are close to me, and I will do my best to care for them even from a distance. All the aspects of my personality actually help explain who I am and help me to better understand myself. I do find it interesting that my personality has changed throughout time. I originally was an ISTJ, but as I have aged, I definitely believe that I have become a more feeling individual. Digger deeper into the meaning of my personality, I found it fascinating that individuals with this personality type typically go into "people-helping" careers like occupational therapy, which may help to explain my draw towards this wonderful field.

Discipline

Focused on meeting deadlines and maintaining a routine. Implements structure when need

Achiever

Always striving to complete the next task no matter how small. Motivation is derived from accomplishing the next task rather than recognition.

Focus

Able to set priorities and make changes when begin straying from course. Highly efficient.

Analytical

Tries to understand why things are the way they are rather thank simply accepting a truth.

Harmony

Attempts to minimize conflict when possible. Try to help different individuals and groups work together to common goal.

Previously, I had never realized what exactly my strengths may be named. After taking the Gallup strengths assessment, it helped me to name some of the strengths I knew I had while highlighting areas I did not previously consider to be my strength. I am not surprised that some of my strengths include maintaining routine, requiring accomplishment, being able to focus, or analyzing the world around me. These are all things that I find myself doing on a daily basis. I think that they have not only helped me be successful in school but have also helped me to better understand others. For instance, I am always trying to understand other people's social views and learn their stories to figure out reasons behind their actions or opinions. The strength that surprised me the most was harmony. While I had not previously thought of myself as a minimizer of conflict, I can see a pattern of this throughout my past. Knowing that these are my top strengths will help me to focus on those areas to shine bright.
